Rombo Cultural and Eco-Tourism Enterprise (ROCTE) is a Community based tourism initiative established and operating in Mengwe village, Rombo district, the Eastern Slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro with beautiful viewpoints.

Coffee Tour
Learn different steps taken to prepare by peel, dry, roast, and grind your own coffee. Then taste with friends and the host family.
Village Walk
Visit Mr. George Massae’s traditional house and gallery, sample of the “house of the chief” (velo) and enjoying Chagga traditional dances.
Bicycle Rides
Experience the real life of our society through a bicycle ride to the home gardens. Also visit the Chagga bolt holes and a museum at Mr. Urios’s residence on the bottom of Hakwe hill.
Forest Birding
Hiking Kilimanjaro agroforest with panoramic views of the evergreen slopes with lush home gardens where natives dwell.Enjoy activities and some wildlife such as monkeys, bush babies and forest birds.
Weekly Scheduled hikes
Get a chance to experience Kilimanjaro on the coffee and banana belt on the mountain slopes during the weekend days. We use these scheduled hikes basically for physical fitness and group adventures.
Kayaking in Lake Chala
Trek around the lake up to crater rim. Possible to see about 240 species of wildlife and indigenous plant species. Later descend to the Lake for Kayaking and relaxation.
Taste Traditional Foods
Enjoy traditional hot dishes prepared from organic produce from our home gardens in highly hygienic standards.
Community & Environmental Sustainability
There are environmental conservation issues & wildlife, community projects, arts, education & healthcare which needs support. We welcome volunteers to work alongside us.
Mt. Kilimanjaro Day Tours
Visit Kilimanjaro National Park through hiking from Marangu to Mandara hut or from Nalemuru to first Cave Camp through Rongai route.
